I would say hopefully soon because I think its stupid, but I think RAM has been selling better than SRT

That's the second day in a row you've used that gif.

Probably a year. They're too busy counting their money from selling all those Rams.

It describes the situation perfectly.

By keeping RAM vehicles away from Dodge, Chrysler can boost the CAFE fleet fuel economy rating of Dodge vehicles. I'd say a while.

It has been selling well, Rams always have. But selling the same model with different capabilities does not a brand make. I'm with you. I think it was one of the stupidest thing they could have done.

I could almost get on board if we got some other models like a Rampage and a Dakota replacement. But as is, it's just idiotic.

Yeah, but doesn't Ram have to meet some requirement also? It's absolutely not fair for for Chevy and Ford to have to build models to offset the Silverado and F-150 if Dodge can just pull this crap.

I think it is the dumbest thing ever to separate SRT and RAM. Like, I don't want a car company called F-150.

I don't know if they will because of the sale success, but I hope they do. Spinning off SRT and RAM into their own brands was one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. However, with Dodge apparently being turned into the "american performance" brand; and Chrysler being officially dropped down to become the true "mainstream" brand to go up against Chevrolet and Ford, it might not ever happen.

By using that logic, they'd have to move RAM into Chrysler, not back into Dodge. I don't know. It's still a cluster fuck because FCA has so many overlapping brands and markets at the moment.

RAM must meet the same requirements or pay fines on every vehicle sold that didn't meet fleet average. Also, the average requirement for light trucks is lower than the requirement for passenger cars. So, by spinning off RAM as its own brand, FiatChrysler can theoretically decrease the target-mpg to better meet CAFE standards and also decrease their fines (I think the fine is a function of the difference between the required average and actual average) while boosting the average fuel economy of Dodge. If RAM trucks were still a part of Dodge their fuel economy would bring down the corporate average and might even make additional models subject to fines (maybe Journey sales or Durango sales). Chevy and Ford can do the same but I guess choose not to, mostly because it costs a shit ton of money to just "make" a new company, plus all the re-branding and advertising as well.

It just seems that with some of the new technologies Fiat brought into the Dodge fold, that it might genuinely be possible to offset Ram. As they are, they stand no chance. The FE on the diesel Ram is not as impressive as they're acting like it is.

Ah, but when compared to the rest of the RAM lineup, the Diesel has awesome fuel economy!
